So, a couple months ago Google released a bunch of Google Laptops called “Chomebooks.”  It was obviously for beta testing only and you could not walk into a Best Buy and pick one up.  That is all changing come June 15th.

What is a Chromebook?  Well, the key factor is the Operating System (OS).  Right now, the odds are your running a Windows OS or Mac OS… and you’ve been doing that for a decade or so, right.  Well, come June 15th, you might be operating off a Google-based Chrome OS.

Another key factor is tapping into the internet.  It’s a 3G ready device, so you can tap into the internet from anywhere without trying to find a wireless network or plugging in.   Similar to how iPads work.

You should realize that this laptop is not meant to replace your work computer.  It’s not intended to run heavy software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Final Cut Pro, and any other techie software you may run at the office.  It’s best for, well, web browsing… emailing… facebooking… playing Angry Birds… and watching YouTubes.  Mostly stuff you would do from home or on the go.

How much? $500 (3G and Wi-Fi data connectivity, includes 100MB of 3G data per month for two years; Wi-Fi model without 3G is $430)

* Right now Acer and Samsung are the only carriers of Chrome OS.  If you want to buy, go Samsung.  Acer has always scared me.  I just don’t trust them for some reason.
